Ambler Angels
by tamarjacobson
I am going to see The Trouble with Angels. A friend is having a viewing in her home today. A morning matinee. The fun part will be jumping into our cars and driving a few miles down the road to Ambler,
where, apparently, the movie was filmed.
A few weeks ago at a dinner party I admitted to not having seen The Trouble With Angels. Everyone stopped dead in their tracks and gasped loudly. They stood there with their mouths and eyes wide open. A huge and tumultuous raucous ensued after which plans were made immediately to educate me as soon as possible.
And so today’s the day, and after popcorn and movie matinee this morning we are off to see the very place. I love Ambler. It is a quaint old town and has my favorite, a wonderful old movie theater right next door to a great pub.
I have a feeling we will all land up in the pub early afternoon for a beer and a burger no doubt. I just know these women I will be accompanying on my educational tour.
I wonder, should I have the salad and a cup of tea, rather?

Winston and Danny,
I answer you both in the post following.
Smiles …
I recall seeing the movie years ago soon after its release. Quite good as I recall. But more of a “chic-flick” than a “real man’s” movie. [Big Grin and Sly Wink]
I’ll pass on the movie, but would love to join your group for burger and brew later…
Oh my God, what time should I be over, I LOVE that movie! And how amazing that you can follow your screening with a trip to building used for St. Mary’s Academy, I had no idea that the castle-like structure still existed (or was in Pennsylvania). I was totally in love with Hayley Mills after seeing that film and Rosalind Russell has perfect delivery throughout. The last line in the film is one of my all-time favorites. Look out for the real-life Gypsy Rose Lee (of “Gypsy” fame) as the dance teacher. “Weep like the weeping willow!” I still calls bras “binders” as a result of this film.
“I’ve got a SCATHINGLY BRILLIANT idea.” Enjoy!
