Quote of the day
by tamarjacobson
You spend your whole life biting your tongue. You’re married, you’re biting your tongue. You go to work, you’re biting your tongue. So it’s nice to go someplace to see some guys and women exercise free speech. And if it’s funny, even better. Chris Rock

Yeah – it’s inevitable – always hurting the ones we love. That’s just how life is, and hurting is as hurting does.
Of course he can only do his comedy thing in an environment where he is not dependant on an ongoing personal relationship (spouse, collegues, boss etc).
“You always hurt the one you love” is a true line.
I bet I’ll wish I hadn’t said that 😉
I see we are all having a little fun here, eh? Thanks to Chris Rock!
I actually didn’t know who Chris Rock was until you taught me here.
He reminds me a little of Jackie Mason, specializing in Blacks instead of Jews. I suppose I’m not the first person to come with this, but I’m a little late to the party. Thanks, Tamar, for inviting me, here.
This is a scream, finding a link to foul-mouthed Chris Rock on your blog. My roommate in Tel Aviv this year introduced me to this lunatic. Initially I was repulsed, and then slowly (because the roommate was addicted to him) learned to find some wisdom and a bit of charm in the comedian. Bottom line: I think Chris Rock comes out of the tradition of self-mockery, which is always the best type of humor in my book.
Yes, yes, Danny. I agree with you about Ann Coulter. 100%. I believe Chris Rock means comedians like himself. For me, I kind of liked it … just because … for fun … and, perhaps, for bloggers, maybe?
God, I’m dense, but I don’t quite get this. Is he talking simply about comedians like himself that say provocative things that we wouldn’t say? My first thought reading this was that I wish people like Ann Coulter WOULD bite their tongue. Hard.
