Creates light and warmth, 

good will, and a festive spirit. 

Gifts amass underneath developing 

into a crescendo of intensity and expectation. 

Tree comes down. 

Creates space, breathing room, 

re-entry into the ordinary, airy, 

mundane. 

The old and familiar 

somehow looks renewed and refueled 

– ready – for the new Year.
